Calverhall Family Day started over 50 years ago as a garden fete to raise money for both Ightfield and Calverhall Churches. The fete was and still is organised by a sub committee of the Parochial Church Council.
The day has gradually increased in size over the years, now raising around £10,000. The money raised goes towards the running and upkeep of the churches without which both churches would almost certainly close. In addition a Community Fund has been set up which it is proposed will fund educational bursaries and community projects.
The day now attracts in the region of 3,000 people with all the attractions as shown on the website. Other events organised through the year include a plant sale, Flower and Vegetable show and a Barn Dance.
We would like to thank everyone both past and present for all their time and effort in making the Ightfield and Calverhall Family Day the huge success that it is.
